Mercedes-Benz is completely revamping its next-generation GLC model and is preparing to offer an all-electric version for the first time. Scheduled for 2026, the new GLC will replace the outgoing EQC model as the fresh blood in Mercedes’ electric SUV lineup. Here are the vehicle’s features and images…
New Mercedes GLC electric version arrives in 2026
When we take a closer look at the spy photos, we see that the new vehicle has reached a design that is very close to production. The design changes that stand out in the Mercedes GLC model are as follows:
- Slimmer headlamp design and a closed grille (indicating the absence of an internal combustion engine).
- At the rear, it is noticeable that the exhaust outlets have been completely removed.
- The door handles are integrated into the body, improving aerodynamic efficiency.
- The roofline ends with a small spoiler, so the sporty character of the vehicle does not go unnoticed.
As we mentioned in our previous news, Mercedes is dropping the EQ nomenclature with this model, meaning the electric version will only be known as the GLC. The interior will feature the new MBUX infotainment system and larger screens.
The new Mercedes GLC will be built on the MB.EA platform, which will also power the next-generation electric C-Class. The vehicle will be available in
- Single-engine rear-wheel drive and twin-engine all-wheel drive versions
- Supports ultra-fast charging thanks to 800V architecture
- Mercedes’ in-house developed MB.OS operating system and AI-powered driving aids
- Google integration in navigation system, AMAP in China, TMAP in Korea
On the other hand, Mercedes is also planning to offer AMG versions for those who want high performance.
When will it be unveiled?
More details about the GLC could be shared during the presentation of the new Mercedes CLA. But the official launch is expected to take place in late 2025 or early 2026. Meanwhile, the new model will compete directly with the Audi Q6 e-tron and the BMW iX3 “Neue Klasse”.
